| As I hope all of you are aware with the recent announcement threads, we have been experiencing trouble created by an unfortunate individual over the last week. Due to this, you may be experiencing some problems with the site that I would like to explain here. BBcode Disabled Due to the spread of gore images and username/password prompts by this individual, we have temporarily disabled some BBcode (url, img, color, yt) on all comments/posts/signatures on the site. We left the BBcode on profile "About Me"s and club infos due to the trouble users encountered after we disabled them last time. However, we may still need to disable them in the future (and this individual may get your account and remove them anyway), so I suggest backing up the BBcode of any profiles/clubs you may be concerned about. This is not intended to be a permanent disable, and we hope to have this issue resolved soon. Hacker Concerns For the most part, this individual's activity level on MAL has dropped considerably over the last few days. However, I would like to remind all users (or notify users who are not yet aware) of specific actions they should take on and off MAL with respect to this situation.
A rollback for the entire site is not currently planned. If you removed SSJMaster vs Xinil titles from your anime lists and you have not exported your list recently, please try checking google cache or waybackmachine for an old version of your list. Hopefully this will help you find the missing titles. Users whose lists have been compromised, please keep in touch with me. I do not want to discuss details in this thread, but we will restore you lists as soon as possible. Please feel free to keep using it, ignoring the hacked entries for now. Finally, please do not chat in this thread. It makes it very difficult for us to monitor it for important new posts if you do this. Thank you all for bearing with us as we get things on the site back in order. Update August 28th Anime Entries Missing Info This issue has been resolved. Update August 31st Anime List Days Decreased This issue should now be resolved. MyAnimeList's Emails Temporarily Down This issue should now be resolved. | okay i just changed my password, exported both anime and manga(the file extension is .xml.gz right?) at least i'm safe for now. thanks for the news! was really worried why the images aren't appearing. don't know what the hacker's problem is, probably has a vendetta on the staff because he was banned or something or he just wants to troll out of nowhere? do wish the site needs an overhaul, sometimes it's really slow and why isn't there a reply notification email in case someone replies to you in one of the threads. it's really sucks that we have to keep going back to the threads in case some replies to us. so hopefully it will be implemented in the near future ^^ |

| My anime list's CSS code seems to have been damaged by it. Well, there is nothing wrong with the code itself as it is the same as before all of this happened, yet it isn't displaying even slightly correctly. Is this intentional from the mods, or was it a direct result of the hacker? |

| Ok here's an idea: Why dint you turn the bb on when at least one mod is online so he can ban the hacker delete the post even turn the bb off again if is necessary? Now when no one mod is online let them off until you find a better solution. |

Hopefully this will help you find the missing titles. About this...the site's robots.txt settings mean that Google Cache and the Wayback Machine don't crawl our individual list pages. I was trying to help a friend out who'd deleted a bunch of those entries, and I discovered that he's basically SOL, because no backup of his list exists out there. I'm not sure if this changes anything about optional rollbacks for non-compromised users, but I figured it was worth mentioning. |
