Dang it, this video made me realize that I forgot Nights into Dreams was just delisted from Steam and I totally forgot to buy it! D:
What an awesome vid. I knew none of that stuff about Journey of Dreams’ development, but it makes perfect sense that such a padded game was rushed to hell and back.
Greetings from Trinidad! Great channel !
have a great 2025!
I have vague memory of this game I remember being confused as hell trying to understand the plot
Thanks for explaining it
Also good editing and video in general
Bro your videos belong in the feed of every retro game fan. Such good everything 😮
I’ve just found your videos and your channel and you’ve gotten yourself a new subscriber! I’ve been wanting to find a good video on Nights for quite some time. I only played the “Into Dreams” title for the Wii when I was a kid. Thank you so much for this!
Have a happy new year iam16bit
I absolutely love the franchise. Such a unique world and vibe, and it’s truly underrated. Shame it was a causality of the recent sega mass delistings, more people should experience it, and that HD remaster was really good. Luckily it always somewhat lives on within Sonic franchise cameos (such as in the Sonic 3 movie with the Chao they based off it)
Note: Sonic 3 wasn’t split into two bc it was too big. It was split due to a tie in deal with McDonalds. They had the first half of the game ready to go, but needed more time for the back half, which would’ve delayed it past the promo deal, so they created Lock On Tech
Looked into it and as it turns out we're both right. It is true that Sega set a deadline for Sonic 3 to fit in a McDonalds promo. In a interview with Famitsu in 2010, Iizuka confirmed that in addition to the deadline. The cartridge size was insufficient and the game wouldn't fit.
Considering both games were on 16Mb ROMs. I suspect altogether it needed at least 24Mb, possibly more.
I-IDEA
I can't comment on its quality as a game because I've not played it, but Journey of Dreams put me off as soon as I saw the characters talking. I know limitations of the Saturn or what not but part of the original game's magic and power is how up to interpretation everything is. If it was all spelled out, it wouldn't be as good
