    I run a woodworking business in Germany. My suppliers are in China, Taiwan, the UK and the USA. Because of uninformed, uneducated, nationalistic and erratic moves made by Trump's America, I'm now in the process of bypassing my US suppliers in favour of suppliers in Asia who will offer me the same (or similar) products at a better price and, ironically, similar-to-better quality. Given that the US manufactures very little in my industry these days and they essentially assemble Chinese wares, even with goodwill, I'd be unable to viably import "Designed in US" or "Assembled in US" products. The US import tariffs on Chinese goods added to the EU import tariffs on US goods make it economically impossible. And my industry is not alone. America is on the verge of making itself irrelevant on physical products. It's a little harder to bypass the US with regards to payments, but we're looking at alternatives. There's definitely a will to exclude the US from European trade, so I'm optimistic we'll find something.
    Sorry, Trump's America, but if you back out of alliances, deals and friendships, you are essentially helping to "Make America Irrelevant Again".

    As a Dane, I think it's great to see Macron stepping up to the task. Trump loves strong men. He's the type of person who thinks the outcome of a deal is determined by who has the strongest handshake. Trump isn't a diplomat, he doesn't respond to diplomacy, he only responds to displays of power, so I think Macron is right: Draw a very hard line and make it very clear where Europe stands. I think it's a shame that the EU and US can't continue to be allys, but as long as Trump is in office, the values of the US are too different from ours, and I think recent developments show that they don't value democracy (like trying to sellout Ukraine to Putin or all the mess they have going on at home - or as some of us still remember handing stabbing the Afghan government in the back and handing the power to the Taliban), and don't respect international agreements (like the Paris Agreement), and clearly they don't want to do business as made obvious by the trade war. Those were the three things that made the alliance between us meaningful, so what's left?

    • @TheSilverPact
      @TheSilverPact Месяц назад

      Okay. So, let me respond here.
      1) Ukraine has refused to hold elections. Their president holds martial law and martial power. He is a dictator. He has failed for years to sort out his own land and his own war, and we've given more equipment and funding to him than all of the EU combined. Several times over. We owe you all nothing, least of all an explanation for why we no longer want to support this obviously corrupt, and incompetent regime in Ukraine.
      2) Most americans are also very upset about what happened in afghanistan. Including Trump. Not sure if you were unaware, but Biden was in charge then, and it was a famous failure for him. So famous it cost him the last bit of support he had in the military.
      3) Oh, so it's okay for YOU to impose massive tariffs on us, and it's all hunky dory, just run of the mill alliance Tuesday. We're supposed to smile and let you do it. But if we impose equal tariffs on you guys, we suddenly don't want to do business, and are starting a trade war? That's asinine. Get over yourself. You being allowed to rip us off is what made the alliance meaningful? Who needs enemies when we have allies like you?

      🇨🇦🇨🇦 You might think so, that man however is willing to cut off his own nose in spite of his face. On this one when the world is confronted by an irrational being such as an Adolf or a Donald then it is best to work together constructively for the security of everyone. Canada has immense natural resources that can help drive the economy of partner nations in securing a long term politically stable partner in utilizing for their economic requirements. A natural resource (oil, gas, lumber, rare earth minerals, fresh water) isn’t to be seen as a deficit but rather a positive benefit in having the energy/natural resources to produce goods for added value, one can source that material from a reliable partner and friend or from OPEC/China/Russia/Venezuela who do not share values and not secure. Canada & Briton has a history & relationship that goes back more than 100 years and this can be the impetus to reinforce our shared values and to expand on our relationship to bring economic success for the next 100 years. Canada is also looking to strengthen our other trading partners, time to pivot to a new world as the US influence is fast collapsing and once new relationships are formed the new collective partnerships will be able to obtain the security that we all deserve. Democracy? They are a Republic. In fact they are no threat to Canada or Europe when it comes to their democracy or lack of. That is pure hyperbolic woke drivel. Canada is nothing but a progressive hell hole ran by deranged progressives. In reality Canada would be no great win to anyone. Especially to deal with as they offer little in return other than their ideological mind virus and TDS.

      The U.S.A. as it is now, under that administration, is indeed, a threat to democracy everywhere. The problem in this "the U.S. is not an ally" sentiment, is the fact that the American people, that is, the sane, decent, upstanding Americans, that oppose this insanity, that did not vote for this lunacy, do not deserve to be vilified/ forgotten/ left behind - and certainly not, made out to be our enemies. The adminstration came to power by dividing Americans, it is now flexing that power, by getting the rest of the world to see them all as the enemy, so the lunatics can say "see, told you, they hate us, so, we have the right to impose ridiculous tariffs on them, make them defend themselves, etc. ". This is all part of the same isolationist plan - "America First" really means, the rest of the world last. We have a very big problem, in the free world, the 'civilised' West, and that is overcoming extreme right-wing autocrats, in order to restore faith in democracy - when all around us, democracy is being attacked, and unity made out to be a dirty word. We must take a strong stand, but, it is against the U.S. adminstration, not the American people. We all have to remain calm and focussed, because the problem grows bigger every day, and is going to be very difficult to solve. It's a sad time in global politics, that's for sure. Only four more years to go...

    We have to get in a position where we are not reliant on the USA for anything, yes Russia is a danger but seeing the results of one country (Ukraine) being able to stop and inflict massive damage on Russia's military by mainly a civilian army with little to zero experience shows they aren't the force they once claimed to be.
    Strengthening European defense and military is a must and America will soon feel isolated if Europe doesn't need them as much.

The skilled labour is too old to be teaching, while fresh workers are not skilled enough (yet require much more learning time to get a good enough paper) so they're not chosen, because it's easier to get more specialized workforce from outside.
